Klausing Group - 1356 Cahill DriveKlausing Group is a proud winner of Lexington in Bloom, a biennial beautification competition sponsored by the Lexington Council of Garden Clubs. The contest recognizes amateur and professional gardens on both residential and commercial properties. Gardens must be visible from the street and are judged on elements of curb appeal, color, texture, maintenance, plant selection and creativity.

Gardens play an important role in our communities. Organizations like the Lexington Council Garden Clubs have long recognized the need to “promote the love of gardening . . . civic, and environmental responsibility,” but now more than ever, plants and soils are being utilized to tackle difficult urban challenges like storm water management, heat island affect, loss of wildlife habitat, and much more. The Lexington in Bloom competition recognizes both traditional garden displays and categories for non-traditional displays such as vegetable gardens, native plantings, butterfly, and rain gardens.

Klausing Group was selected as a winner in the small business category for our efforts in both areas; the more traditional garden plantings, found in the four, twenty inch hanging baskets that decorate the entrance to our offices and the non-traditional, two hundred square foot vegetated roof, which is visible from the guest parking lot and the city street. The vegetated roof includes native plants, herbs, perennials, grasses and shrubs and addresses storm water management and heat island affect.
