You can bet that any employer worth their weight is screening their applicants to ensure they make the best hires but, are you screening them? Wouldn't it be great if you could "test drive" an employer before accepting their job offer? Maybe speak with a current or former employee to get the inside scoop? You can.
Prepare for your interview by identifying any questions you want answered about the organization. If you still want to know more before accepting an offer, ask permission to speak with someone else in the company. Preferably, someone in the position your considering. Ask questions like, what are the hours? Is your supervisor reasonable and fair? What's the average tenure of an employee? Are their opportunities for professional development and growth? Are employees treated with respect? Are they encouraged to contribute? Any good employer will be happy to answer these questions to help you make an informed decision.
Lastly, don't forget to search the internet for employee reviews of the company. Here you can find candid, honest feedback from former and current employees who have been there.
