Engaging Our Team: Insights from the Latest Gallup Q12 Survey

Klausing Group on May 28, 2024

At Klausing Group, we prioritize the impact that landscapes can have on our environment and we build policies and practices based on the impact we have on our team members, their families, and the community. We understand that our employees' engagement is crucial to our collective success and well-being. That's why we conduct the Gallup Q12 Survey every six months to measure and improve employee engagement. Historically, we have performed exceptionally well, consistently ranking above the 80th percentile. However, there's always room for improvement.

In our recent surveys, three specific questions—Questions 4, 7, and 10—have highlighted areas where we can enhance our team members' experience and engagement. Despite each of these questions still ranking above the 70th percentile, we are committed to doing even better. Let's take a closer look at these questions and the steps we've taken to address them.

Question 4: In the past 7 days, I have received recognition or praise for doing good work.

To enhance recognition, we've implemented a formal praise system known as "woot woots" or "shout outs." This initiative encourages team members to recognize one another's good work. Each week, those who give or receive recognition are celebrated in our weekly branch huddles. At the end of the month, everyone who participated is entered into a raffle. Those who gave recognition and those who received it. However, the real challenge lies in cultivating a culture where everyone actively gives recognition. Imagine the impact if we all took the initiative to praise each other. I'm committed to doing my part—how about you?

Question 7: At work, my opinions seem to count.

To ensure that everyone feels heard, we're doubling down on our daily huddles. These meetings include all crew leaders and production managers who gather each morning to discuss schedules, resources, staffing, deadlines, and open issues. For these huddles to be truly impactful, every participant must listen and contribute. This practice fosters an environment where everyone's opinion is valued and counted.

Question 10: I have a best friend at work.

This question is often the most subjective of the Q12, and we've never pushed the idea that "at Klausing Group, you're all family." Instead, we focus on creating an environment where team members enjoy each other's company and share common values. To foster deeper and more meaningful relationships among colleagues, we've organized various events outside of regular work activities. These include volunteering opportunities, company picnics, training events paired with meals, and our "Hard 100" celebrations, where we mark the milestones of the toughest 100 days of the year.

At Klausing Group, we are dedicated to continuously improving our workplace culture and ensuring that every team member feels valued and engaged. Our recent Gallup Q12 Survey results have provided us with valuable insights, and we are committed to taking meaningful actions to address areas where we can improve. By fostering a culture of recognition, valuing everyone's opinions, and creating opportunities for deeper connections, we are not just enhancing our work environment but also strengthening our community impact. Together, we can make Klausing Group an even better place to work. Let’s continue to engage, support, and celebrate each other.
